As I mention on the About Janey page of this web site, I believe that everyone has some level of psychic ability and those odd experiences of déjà vu, ghost sightings, tangible intuition could be that ability but often without recognition by the individual.
Psychic mediums have learned to channel these energies and to open and close their mind to spirit communication as their current circumstances dictate. For example; a medium may meditate to prepare for a reading and thus open their mind to spirit. On the other hand the medium can close their mind to spirit reception when they do not want to be interrupted. There are exceptions I might add, spirits can be quite persistent when they need to be.
I am convinced that all of our loved ones in spirit "drop in" on us from time to time. We may get a feeling someone is around us. If we are lucky we may smell a perfume that reminds us of our passed Mum for example. It's a spirit popping in just to say 'Hi, I'm with you'. This can be anywhere and everywhere, as a spirit has no physical restraint on their location. This is when the so called uncanny experience can occur.
Some people call these experiences uncanny or coincidence or intuition or even déjà vu. Others, and probably most people, dismiss an experience or look for a tangible excuse for the event.
A psychic medium does not outwardly search for or invite specific communications with any individual spirit. The spirit knows whom it is they want to contact and will take the closest and strongest link they can find to their loved one in the physical world. Very often a psychic medium will be the best option for the spirit to make contact.
Spiritual experiences take many forms and to name but a few, there are:
- Manifestation - the ghost (very rare indeed)
- a familiar smell
- a spoken message
- a feeling that someone passed is near you
- a vision in the minds eye
So, why do spirit messages often seem cryptic or fragmented and unclear?
First, we need to accept that living energy is all around us. This energy can be photographed with the right equipment. - 'The force be with you young Skywalker' (Star Wars movie, 1977), may not have been that far from the truth
Secondly, spirits are pure energy and exist in a much less restricted plane than we do. We on the other hand are bogged down with earthly bodies and all the day-to-day stresses and living tasks we all have to endure.
Spirit messages to us here on the earth plane are intended as a comfort or a guide to a specific item on the intended recipients life agenda.
A medium learns to raise or open their energy level to aid reception of spiritual communication. But it is not like having a telephone line to the other side at all. After all the medium does not know you or the spirit trying to communicate to you, but you know each other and how much can a spirit say about all the things that have passed over time in order to give you validation that they are there during the time of a short psychic reading or experience.
A spirit may show an item, speak a name, name a place or time etc. It is when all the pieces are put together that a message, often just a simple, 'hey I'm here and ok' emerges.
I believe that the spirits are never wrong, however, the psychic medium can sometimes misinterpret the message a spirit is trying to get across. With some perseverance between the medium and the sitter this can be resolved. By example, this happened in a recent reading I was doing where a spirit was trying to validate that they were there for the sitter. The spirit gave me the word 'teddy', and showed me the colours 'red' and 'blue'. I assumed this to mean the name and asked the sitter if they knew anyone called Teddy or Ted. She was resolute in the fact that she did not or had not known anyone by that name. At this point my spirit guide, said (quite tersely), 'say what you see'. So, I asked the sitter if she had a red and blue teddy. It turned out that the sitter's husband had bought her a red teddy bear with blue writting on it the week before and that no one but them knew about it... the spirit did... validation achieved by the spirit. It was a very good reading for the sitter.
I deliberately ask my reading sitters not to tell me anything about themselves before a reading (except for their name and date of birth). I always ask the sitter to validate a spirit message as it is especially important in group sittings to ensure that the message is received by the right person. People ask how I could have known certain things about them etc., it's simple... I didn't know, but the spirits that know you did and they used me to tell you.
This has been just a brief insight to my beliefs and thoughts on the psychic and spiritual. As time goes by and this site develops I will enlarge on my thoughts and experiences.
